Tim Farron MP with volunteers collecting litter in Grange

[S]outh Lakes MP Tim Farron is set to join forces with local residents to help clean up the beach in Arnside this Saturday.

The event, which will run from 10am to 12pm, is jointly organised by Tim and LOVEmyBeach, the North West campaign for cleaner beaches and seas.

Last month, Tim joined local volunteers in Grange to help collect around eight and a half stone’s worth of rubbish on the shoreline.

Tim said: “We had a really successful community beach clean in Grange and showed how much people cared about communities they live in and how much they want to contribute to keep them clean and tidy.

“I’m looking forward to seeing that same community spirit in action this Saturday.

“So if you do have a spare couple of hours free in the morning then I’d love to see you there!”

Volunteers are advised to wear stout footwear (i.e. not sandals or pumps) and bring heavy duty work or gardening gloves where available. Litter pickers, bags and hoops will be provided by LOVEmyBEACH.

Booking for the event is not required; simply meet at 10am at the LOVEmyBEACH gazebo to collect your equipment and for a short health and safety briefing.
