Lake District Hotels supports Keswick in Bloom

Iain Grant (General Manager, Inn on the Square) and Tom Rennie (Treasurer of Keswick in Bloom)

[L]ake Districts Hotels Ltd. have kindly donated £500 to Keswick in Bloom, to show their appreciation towards the continued work that goes into maintaining the beauty of the town.

The donation was handed over to Tom Rennie, treasurer of Keswick in Bloom by the Inn on the Square’s General Manager, Iain Grant.

Each year, a team of keen volunteers work hard to maintain a whole range of flower beds, baskets, towers and shrubberies, and any financial assistance comes as a great help to the organisation.

Mr Rennie commented, “At Keswick in Bloom, we spend around £5,000 a year to purchase plants, compost, and equipment, we also finance a watering contract to keep all the plants in tip top condition. For a number of years KIB enjoyed a grant of over £2,000 from Allerdale Borough Council, but recent financial constraints mean that this was withdrawn and we are now dependent on donations from the local community to replace this.”

“I’d like to thank Lake District Hotels for their generosity, if a few more local businesses could each contribute just 10% of this kind donation, the future of the organisation could be secured.”

To show your support to Keswick in Bloom, contact Tom Rennie on 077617 96615.
