Kings Head Hotel

[S]pecialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been brought to the market The King’s Head Hotel, an impressive Grade II listed Lakeland inn, which overlooks the picturesque Stone Gill river in Ravenstonedale, Cumbria.

The traditional, two storey detached riverside inn features part rendered stone elevations set beneath a pitched roofline of local Lakeland slate and has recently undergone refurbishment to a high standard. Guest accommodation comprises six tastefully appointed en suite bedrooms, comprising four double and two twin bedrooms. The ground floor houses a 32 cover lounge and bar with a feature stone fireplace and a 50 cover restaurant with a beamed ceiling, which overlooks the river. Externally, there is a private beer garden and guest car parking. Additionally, the property includes a two bedroom apartment suitable for use as accommodation for a manager or owner-operator.

The inn is ideally positioned near the Howgill Fells, famously featured in Wainwright’s 1972 book, ‘Walks on the Howgill Fells,’ and just one mile from the popular Coast to Coast route which maps a path from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, attracting walkers, cyclists and visitors from across the country year round.

The Metcalfe-Gibson family has owned the property since 1892, and now looking forward to retirement, Christopher Metcalfe-Gibson comments, “The King’s Head is a much loved family business and I am sad to be selling but the time is right to now move on and enjoy my retirement. I very much hope to find the right buyer who can continue to build on the solid foundations of this traditional Cumbrian pub.”

Keith Stringer, Director at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale comments, “The Kings Head is an exceptional ‘turnkey’ opportunity for an experienced owner-operator or multiple operator in a first class location.”

The Kings Head has been brought to the market through Christie & Co on a freehold basis at an asking price of £675,000.
