Sadie Barnes achieved a grade A in Biology, Chemistry and Geography and is going to Newcastle University to study Biomedical Sciences.

Matthew Dodd gained an A grade in Maths and Further Maths as well as a Distinction* in both Media and IT, he will be attending Edge Hill University to study Animation.

Nathan Poland the Head Boy achieved a grade B in French, grade C in Maths and a grade D in Physics and will be going to the L3 Airline Academy in September to train as a pilot.

The Head Girl Keira Benzie gained an A* grade in Art, grade A in English Language and a grade C in English Literature and will be attending Lancaster University to read Sociology.

Staff are proud to report that the proportion of Y13 students going on to university has increased from 2017.

Headteacher, Des Bird, said: “I am delighted with the 2018 A level results, which are the best ever achieved in the history of the Academy.

“Year 13 were an incredibly committed and hard working group of students, and I am glad that they are able to reap the rewards. The whole school community can be proud of these results.

“As always there are a number of queries over re-marks and grade boundaries and so, once the official DfE September checking exercise has been completed we will issue our headline data. For now, it is essential we focus on the real stars of today; the students.”
