Eden District Council’s Building Control Team continually checks the quality and safety of work by local tradespeople, so the Team were delighted that when their own work and processes were scrutinized recently they achieved an internationally recognised quality management standard (ISO 9001:2015).
Eden District Council’s Services Portfolio Holder, Councillor Adrian Todd, said: “The Council’s Building Control officers work with a variety of people from large construction companies to private individuals and by achieving the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standards they are demonstrating that their services and processes are constantly improving to meet customer needs.
“We have a dedicated team of Building Control officers who have been really committed to achieving this standard by ensuring they are continually working in a planned, consistent and documented manner. Maintaining this standard will ensure we continue to deliver a top quality service for the public.”
Local Authority Building Control (LABC) and its members are committed to meeting customer agreements, legal requirements and requirements as defined in the LABC ISO 9001:2015 standard.
Eden District Council’s Building Control Manager, Alaistair Richmond, said: “We have really worked hard as a team to embrace the work involved in achieving this management standard. This means getting rid of inefficient procedures so we improve the consistency of our service.
“The Building Control Team are customer focused and whether our clients are architect, builders or householders this is reflected in almost everything we do, within the confines of satisfying the clauses of the ISO 9001:2015 standard. This standard can be audited by LABC or Acumulus who are the certifying company.”
