Police are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred on Monday 10th September at 3pm at an address on Burlington Street, Ulverston.
The victim, an 81-year-old woman received a call from a man attempting to distract her from the property proposing there was fire in the rear of the street. On returning to her property she confronted the suspect who was upstairs. The victim was unharmed and nothing was taken from the property.
The suspect is described as white and aged between 50 -60, 5ft 10 inches tall of medium build with muscular arms. He was wearing a white t-shirt, red and white shorts and spoke with a local accent.
Residents and family members are advised to be diligent around cold calling or uninvited visitors. Anyone with relevant information regarding this incident is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers.
