Glassonby and Gamblesby Parish Council, in partnership with Cumbria County Council will host a public meeting on Wednesday 10 October at 7.30pm in the Gamblesby Community Centre.

The meeting will bring members of the East Fellside community together to hear about the investments made following the last cold weather period and to discuss how best to prepare for the coming winter months.

Cllr Claire Driver, Member for Alston and East Fellside, said: “People living in these communities know only too well how hard winters here can be, and last winter was one of the worst I’ve ever known.

“Over the past few months we’ve worked hard to build strong relationships with the people most affected, which has given us the opportunity to reflect on how we can better prepare for the unique and extreme conditions that aren’t seen anywhere else in the county.

“I’m so encouraged by the progress that has been made, and by the commitment shown on all sides to come up with winter plans that are truly fit for purpose.”

Local parish councils have been invited to send a representative to the meeting, and members of the local public are also welcome to attend.
