It was an extraordinary end to this Sundays women’s football games with both Penrith AFC Ladies and Penrith Development team games being abandoned.

Penrith AFC Ladies 2 – 1 Accrington Ladies (Game Abandoned after 57 minutes)

After a very competitive first half it was Penrith who found themselves 2-1 ahead at the break with a superbly taken brace of goals from striker Lily Gaulton.

Into the second half Penrith appeared to have taken the initiative as they pressed for a 3rd goal.

However the game was brought to a premature end when, in the 57th min, an Accrington player collapsed on the pitch requiring medical attention and an ambulance was called.

Best wishes go to the player as she recovers in hospital.

It is likely that the game will need to be replayed later in the season.
