Grange Lido: past, present and future will be held at the Victoria Hall in Grange on 11th April from 2-9pm.

Save Grange Lido are inviting people to share their memories of swimming in the iconic pool. The group are holding the event ‘Grange Lido: Past, present and future’ at the Victoria Hall in Grange.

There will be numerous photographs on display of bathers enjoying the heyday of ‘Grange Baths.’ The drop-in session takes place on 11th April, from 2-9pm and is open to anyone who would like to come along and share their memories of swimming in the pool. There will also be the opportunity to chat to members of Save Grange Lido about current progress and future plans to reopen the pool.

Save Grange Lido are a community benefit company and plan to reopen the abandoned facility on the promenade with a 50m six lane pool, a heated 25m pool alongside a paddling and play pool. The complex would also boast a community space, restaurant, sauna, steam room and shop.

Darren Milby from SGL said: “One of my first memories is splashing around in the kiddies pool with my Mum whilst my Dad was diving into the main pool. Everyone seems to have a story about the Lido. We would love to hear them and if you have any photographs please come along and share them. Save Grange Lido have been working tirelessly behind the scenes on our business case and exciting plans to reopen the site. Come along on the day to find out exactly what we are working on plus there is the opportunity to get involved in this hugely exciting project.”

The group plan to raise the funds to renovate the pool, which closed in 1993, alongside the SLDC’s current scheme to repair the buildings.

Save Grange Lido plan to raise funds for the renovation of the grade II listed pool and operate the facility without the need for council subsidy.
