Longtown based haulier Wm Armstrong are continuing their support for local charity Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland – an organisation that provides support to those with palliative and end of care needs, whilst also supporting their families/loved ones. Two Wm Armstrong employees will be embarking on a 25 mile hike across Hadrian’s Wall in September. Accounts staff, Nicola Robinson and Joanna Carlyle have courageously volunteered to do the trek, requesting donations in return. All funds raised will go to the charity.
Hospice at Home spokesperson Sam Davis spoke highly of the fundraising: “Hospice at Home are so grateful that Nicola Robinson and Joanna Carlyle from Wm Armstrong will be taking up the Hadrian’s Wall Trekking Challenge in September, without the kindness and dedication of our supporters we would not be able to care for local patients their families and carers. Their commitment is so important to us”.
Wm Armstrong Managing Director Jennifer Whyberd added: “We’re so proud of Nicola and Joanna for stepping up to take part in the Hadrian’s Wall Trek; to everyone involved in supporting them with fundraising; and many thanks to Nicola and Joanna’s friends and colleagues for their kind donations. We’re also hugely grateful to Hospice at Home for giving us the opportunity to participate in the Hadrian’s Wall Trek and to support their wonderful cause. All the best to Nicola and Joanna – have a great weekend.“
The walk commences at Lanercost Priory on Saturday 14th September and ends at the Brocolitia Roman Fort on Sunday 15th. All participants will meet at the Hadrian’s Wall camp site on the Friday prior, where they will pitch up their tent for the weekend, have dinner at a local restaurant and get to know the other walkers.
The two ladies are going the extra mile with their fundraising activity; they are also hosting a Lunch afternoon in Longtown where homemade soup and sweet will be provided as well as a prize raffle. Nicola said “We wanted to do as much as possible to support the cause so we’ve pulled out all the stops, we’ve had some contributions from local businesses in Longtown too which has been a great help. Let’s just hope the sun is shining for our walk!”.
A ‘Just Giving page has been set up for the Hadrian’s Wall Trek fund which enables donations to be made easily and safely online. Wm Armstrong and Hospice at Home are hugely grateful for any contributions, large or small. The page can be found at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wmarmstronghadrianswalltrek.
