Man arrested after woman hurt in Carlisle attack

Police are investigating an assault which occurred in Carlisle.

A woman, aged in her 30s, was assaulted by a man in the area of Grey Street and London Road shortly after 11.30pm yesterday (7 March).

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The male grabbed the victim’s neck and dragged her around by her hair.

“The woman suffered minor injuries as a result of this incident.

“The victim was wearing a bright red coat at the time of the assault. The suspect was wearing a grey top, black body-warmer and blue jeans.

“A 35-year-old man, from Carlisle, was arrested on suspicion of assault ABH and remains in custody.”

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to PC 2733 Hogarth or quote incident number 251 of 7 March. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
