Eden District Council unveils ‘Eden Business Assist’ programme

Eden District Council has announced its new pilot ‘Eden Business Assist’ scheme to help firms in the district to grow and prosper.

Funded by the Council, businesses are able to speak to an expert advisor to develop their business through practical advice and support. Help is available for common problem-areas like marketing, finance, innovation and strategic planning.

Commercial Services Portfolio Holder and Deputy Leader of Eden District Council, Councillor Mary Robinson, explained that the scheme is available for a variety of business based in Eden.

“The scheme is open to SMEs and start-up businesses, regardless of sector, right across Eden.

Whether you’re a farmer looking at diversifying, a fledgling start-up or a business which employs dozens of workers, we want to help you develop and grow your business in Eden.”

The pilot scheme is open for 12 months and is delivered by the experts from Redkite Innovations. The firm is experienced in helping businesses across the UK to become more profitable through one-to-one skills development and coaching.

Kyran Parker from Redkite Innovations, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Eden District Council to help businesses in the area. Over the next 12 months we will be giving one-to-one advice and support, alongside hosting local workshops, all with the aim of safeguarding and increasing the number of jobs in the district.”

Kyran added, “We’re running an online survey so that businesses can let us know what type of support they would like to see from us, and if there are any particular problem areas. If we see some themes come out, we’ll be looking at delivering open trainings sessions on those topics within the next few months. So please let us know your thoughts!”

Eden businesses can access the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/8DXDHBQ – where they can share any of their training and advice requirements.

For further information on the Eden Business Assist Scheme, contact Kyran Parker on 07982678017 or at register@redkiteinnovations.co.uk.

The scheme is part of a range of economic programmes from the Council. Alongside Eden Business Assist, there is the Eden Apprenticeship Scheme – which provides up to £2,000 for taking on an apprentice – and the Eden Business Support Fund, which can offer businesses a loan of up to £200,000.

Eden District Council’s economic development website – www.investineden.co.uk – has details of the above schemes – along with further information on helping businesses go green, an Eden land and property search facility and signposting to other sources of finance and business support.
