Workington Town Council launches Autumn photography competition

Workington Town Council has launched an Autumn photography competition for all ages.

The competition, which runs from 21st September – 2nd November, encourages people to take photographs of ‘Autumn in Workington’.  The Council recognises that this is a special time of year with the leaves turning brown and the fresh, crisp air and they welcome photographs of entrants’ own interpretation of Autumn.

The competition is open to everyone, not just those who live in Workington.

Cllr Carole Armstrong, Chair of the town council’s Culture Committee said: “It has been a difficult year for everyone, but now the season is changing, and people are starting to get back to some form of normality.  We hope this encourages people to venture out into Workington and be creative.  The theme may be ‘Autumn in Workington’ but that leaves a lot to the entrants’ imagination and we really want to see a variety of genres and depiction. We are proud of our town and we hope this competition helps other people see what we have to offer here.”

Winners will each receive a gift voucher for a shop of their choice, along with sponsored gifts from Derwent Pencils.

The Town Council will also display winning photographs in the town centre and hope to secure enough space to showcase other photos from the winner’s portfolios.

Age categories are: 12 and under, 13-17 years and 18 and over.
