Police were called at 9:30am on Friday 18 September 2020 to the report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A684, approximately one mile from Junction 37 of the M6 towards Sedbergh.

The collision involved a silver Moto Guzzi motorcycle and a white Range Rover.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “As a result of the collision, the rider of the motorcycle, a 57-year-old man from South Cumbria sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Preston Hospital.

“The occupants of the car suffered minor injuries.

“The road was closed for several hours whilst a forensic collision investigation and vehicle recovery was carried out.”

A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “One casualty was extricated by fire service personnel using cutting gear and a further casualty was given medical treatment by ambulance crews at the road side.

“Fire service personnel were in attendance for approximately ninety minutes.”

Anyone with any information or who witnessed the collision is asked to contact PC2559 JONES or Sgt 1962 VICKERS on 101 or email [email protected], quoting log 66 of 18 September 2020.
