Welcome to the world of Baby It’s Cold Outside

Cumbrian businesses collaborate on feel-good festive animation to lift sprits in time for Christmas.

Home fragrance experts, Wax Lyrical, set out to bring a smile to everyone’s face as it launches its Christmas ranges and has worked with Plus3K Animation Studios to create a charming short film in celebration of the festive season.

Baby It’s Cold Outside is a range of scented candles and reed diffusers and each one is adorned with an illustrated character which was designed by Wax Lyrical’s in-house product development team, based at Lindal-in-Furness.

Carlisle-based Plus3k was tasked with bringing each character to life and creating a piece of film which would evoke the magic and excitement of the festive period.

Lou Kneath, CEO of Plus3k, said: “Working with a fellow Cumbrian based company on such a creative campaign to captivate the imagination of online audiences has been fantastic. Our main objective as an animation studio is to create high concept storytelling with appealing content and believable character performances and Wax Lyrical allowed us to do just that.”

In the short film you will meet Nukka the Inuit, Pistachio the Penguin, Elskan the Reindeer and Nanuq the Polar Bear. The playful and charming characters are each awoken by the renowned scents of winter before coming together to unveil the brand-new addition to the range for 2020; the red colour pop edition, Deck the Halls.

2020 marks 40 years in business for Wax Lyrical and it’s been a monumental year for the manufacturer which put a hold on fragrance production earlier this year, in the midst of the pandemic, to manufacture sanitiser.

Whilst Wax Lyrical has committed to manufacturing sanitiser permanently, its home fragrance production resumed just in time to launch its Christmas collections.

Jenn Park, Marketing Manager at Wax Lyrical said: “Baby It’s Cold Outside is one of our hero autumn/winter ranges for 2020 and the collection lends itself perfectly to a piece of festive storytelling. This was a lovely way for us to wrap up our 40th year in business and we hope it will bring a smile to our customers faces as we move into the festive season.”
