JF Hornby staff deliver hampers of joy

JF Hornby’s Lucy Williamson and India McClure are ready to start delivering festive hampers of joy.

Hampers of festive joy will be delivered to community champions or those in need of a helping hand as part of an accountancy firm’s plans for Christmas.

The team at JF Hornby are seeking nominations as they look to give a little back to the communities they serve at the end of what has been a difficult year for many.

Hampers will be distributed later this month when nominations are in and recipients of the festive treats have been decided.

Managing director of JF Hornby and Co, Paul Hornby, said: “It has been such a tough year for so many people for a variety of reasons.

“I think we are all looking forward to consigning 2020 to the history books – but before the year is out, we wanted to spread some festive cheer and positivity in the communities we work in.

“That’s why we will be putting together a number of Christmas hampers which we will deliver to the doors of those who are deserving of a treat. It could be the neighbour who has helped you through a difficult time or a key worker who you have seen get up for work every day in the toughest of circumstances. Or it could simply be someone who needs a helping hand.

“We know there will be no shortage of deserving people out there in our wonderful towns and villages – so please come forward and nominate someone who you believe deserves a Christmas treat.”

The team at JF Hornby carry out festive acts of kindness every year. Normally they complete a trolley dash and donate the proceeds to local food banks.

This year, they decided to mix things up a little with the hamper giveaway and have also bought a mountain of toys and games which they have donated to the Salvation Army to ensure children for whom Christmas might be tough, get a gift to lift their spirits on December 25.

“Christmas will be very different this year for a whole host of reasons,” said Paul. “Loved ones have been lost, many people find themselves unemployed and families will not be able to spend time together in the way they normally would.

“Our Festive Hampers of Joy initiative is just a small gesture to help raise spirits – and let people know they are appreciated and loved.”

Dozens of people have already been nominated. To nominate someone for a Box of Joy, drop a private message to the JF Hornby team on social media, email jfh@jfhornby.com or call 01229 588077.
