Three passengers were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary with serious injuries

Two people injured in a crash on the A66 which saw a man and a woman lose their lives have been discharged from hospital.

The collision, involving a black Ford S Max and a tractor, happened in the early hours of Saturday between the Fitz and Oakhurst roundabouts.

Shaun Milburn, 34, of Maryport, who was driving the S Max and Michelle Pattinson 42, of Maryport, a passenger in the car, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ford was carrying five people at the time of the collision.

The three other passengers, a man and a woman in their 30s and a man in his 40s, all local, were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Both men have now been discharged and the woman remains in a serious but stable condition.

The tractor driver, a local 20-year-old man, was treated at the Cumberland Infirmary for minor injuries.
