Remember a special person and help Eden Valley Hospice in its new appeal.
The hospice on Durdar Road, Carlisle, is creating a garden of memories with something extra special among the flowers and fruit plants this year.
There is a trail of pebbles with the handwritten names of people who are being remembered by the community of Cumbria.
Some are of individuals who experienced hospice care, some are the names of people we have missed spending time with in recent months.
The hospice has invited people to share their memories of loved ones and donate in their honour as a way of completing a circle of compassionate care that means other families can benefit from its support.
Jenny Wilson, head of clinical services, said: “There are many moments that stood out to me over the past year. The support that staff gave a patient to do her hair and make-up before she had a Zoom call with her son. The sadness of having to restrict visiting.
“These memories are both positive and negative, but we always try to keep the needs of those we care for at the heart of every decision we make.
“The hospice gardens are now in full bloom and are providing much joy and comfort to the patients and their families who are in our care.
“You can donate today in memory of those very much missed and very much loved to you. Your donation will help provide support to local people who need to access specialised and dignified care.”
If you would like to donate to dedicate a memory and add a name to the Garden of Memories the dedication will be written on a pebble and placed in the hospice gardens until the end of August.
