The Lake District National Park Authority’s new deputy chair is the latest recruit to join the board of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

Tiffany Hunt MBE, who succeeded Peter Allen as the park authority deputy chair in June 2021, has also now replaced him as its representative on the partnership.

She attended her first board meeting recently, which preceded the partnership’s annual general meeting.

Tiffany was a National Trust staff member for 28 years and was successively regional director for Northumbria, Yorkshire and the North West.

She was awarded the MBE for services to the North West’s heritage in 2015 and is currently chair of the National Lottery Heritage Fund Committee for the North.

A Lancastrian by origin now living in Cumbria, Tiffany is a history graduate who trained originally as a museum curator and has spent her working life in the charitable, voluntary and heritage sectors.

She currently undertakes a variety of non-executive and voluntary roles, including vice chair of the Fabric Advisory Committee for York Minster, a member of the Carlisle Diocesan Advisory Committee and as a trustee of the Cartmel Village Society.

She said: “I am delighted to be joining the LEP board as the representative of the Lake District National Park Authority and look forward to making an active contribution.

“LEP funding has been hugely helpful in boosting Cumbria’s economy in a variety of ways. I am pleased that this has included support for some of the county’s important cultural heritage attractions helping to create new jobs and encourage skills development.”

LEP chair Lord Inglewood said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Peter for all the service he’s given to Cumbria LEP over the years, and to the wider Cumbrian community too, and we send him our very best wishes as he steps back from front line engagement.

“We are also delighted to welcome Tiffany as the park authority’s representative on the LEP board. She boasts an impressive record in promoting the cultural, historic and environmental agendas in Cumbria and beyond.

“Her enthusiasm and expertise in these areas will be extremely valuable as we work together, as a board and with other partners, to make Cumbria the perfect place to live, work, visit and in which to invest.”
