Barrow manager Mark Cooper says he might have to reconsider his footballing principles to plug his leaking defence.
Cooper wasn’t happy with the goals his side conceded yesterday in their 2-1 home defeat by Rochdale.
He said: “It’s up to me to find a formula that works and if that means rethinking how we play then I will do that. At the moment we are too open.
“The first goal came from a 50-yard ball played through our defence. You wouldn’t see that in a Sunday league game.
“For the second we ignored the obvious ball out to a player who was unmarked and instead went back to our goalkeeper. His clearance was not the best and Rochdale were in for a simple tap-in.
“We simply can’t keep giving goals away like that. It’s holding us back.
“To be honest after we changed one or two things in the first half and then at half-time, and we got the equaliser, I could only see it going one way and we would come through to win it.
“But that goal killed us again and we really are going to need to tighten up and defend properly.”
Meanwhile, former Barrow winger Chris Taylor has joined the NPL Premier Division side Radcliffe Borough.
Taylor, 34, was released by Barrow at the end of last season and after considering his options for three months has decided to drop into non-league for the first time.
Barrow signed him in October last year and he played 17 times for them, helping them to stay in League Two.
Taylor made 473 appearances throughout his time in the Football League, the bulk at Oldham Athletic in two spells, but also played for Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool and Bradford City.
