Workington Town have replaced two of their departing stars with exciting additions to the squad from Newcastle Thunder.
Hooker Declan O’Donnell (now with London Broncos) and winger Brad Holroyd (Widnes) played huge roles in last season’s promotion success.
But coach Chris Thorman is confident he has signed ready-made replacements in Evan Simons and Alex Clegg.
Simons’ arrival at Derwent Park has been covered earlier by Cumbria Crack, and now free scoring winger Clegg will be hoping to be a big part of Town’s adaption to life in the Championship next year.
An academy graduate at Kingston Park Stadium, Clegg is also a sports management graduate from Northumbria University.
The 22-year-old made himself an almost indispensable feature for the club in 2019 as he made 25 appearances out of a possible 28 and was second-top try scorer with an impressive 19 touchdowns.
He continued where he left off in the truncated 2020 season, making five competitive starts and scoring three tries.

Able to play at fullback, centre or wing, Clegg is a versatile option who first came to the club back in 2018, joining the academy after moving to the region to study at Northumbria University.
His form for Thunder has built impressively on his first in the region back in 2018, where he marked himself out as one to watch by becoming a key fixture in the University side as they triumphed in the BUCS Grand Final, before making his Thunder first-team debut.
Clegg says he can’t wait to get started at Workington as he becomes part of an expanding Geordie connection.
