A Lake District charity has welcomed a £2,000 boost.

The Lake District Calvert Trust, based at Little Crosthwaite near Keswick, was presented with the donation from the Freemasons Provincial Benevolent Fund.

For over 40 years The Lake District Calvert Trust has been delivering challenging outdoor adventure holidays for people with disabilities, offering exciting residential breaks for schools, groups, families, and individuals which are accessible to people of all ages including those with the most complex needs for which most outdoor centres cannot cater.

The group chairman, Glyn Titterington, handed over the grant to Jennifer Scott of the Calvert Trust. He was accompanied by Keith Beaumont, representing the Masonic Province and Paul Godber who is an East Lakes Group member. This grant was one of many similar donations which have been given to numerous local charities throughout Cumbria.

Group Chairman, Glyn Titterington said: “Over the last year, and mainly during lockdown, the Freemasons of the East Lakes area have made donations to a joint initiative. Having raised £1,000 the Freemasons Provincial Benevolent Fund then matched that sum which enabled a donation of £2,000 to be made to the Lake District Calvert Trust to support the charity in their efforts to bounce back from the devastating effects of COVID inactivity.”

Fundraising Manager, Jennifer Scott, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Freemasons’ continued support both nationally and locally. All money donated makes such a huge difference to the lives of our beneficiaries”.
