A 12-year-old is to switch on the Christmas lights in Grange-over-Sands.

Dean Wilson–Klayton, who lives locally, was very ill two years ago and hospitalised with influenza A. Due to some other underlying health issues, the Influenza made Klayton very poorly and as a result he has had to undergo physical rehabilitation over the past few months.

The Grange Christmas Tree Lighting Committee wanted to help Klayton celebrate his recovery, as Christmas is his favourite time of the year. Supporting him will be his family and Tricia Thomas, Mayor of Grange-over-Sands, will also be in attendance.

The Flookburgh Band, The Bay Community Singers and of course the most special visitor (Santa) will at the Ornamental Gardens, Grange-over-Sands to celebrate the 75th Lighting of the Tree.

The committee would also like to recognise the dedication and commitment of former Chairman, Robin Webster for his work in previous years.

If you would like to nominate a local person who you feel would be deserving of being a future Guest of Honour, do so via the Facebook page.

The event will take place at 6pm on Saturday.
