
Workington and District Sunday league’s programme was again hit by the weather with three fixtures postponed.
Two were Premier Division games – Glasson Gardeners v Blue Bell and Seaton Rangers v Sun Inn while the third was a President’s Cup-tie – Sun Inn Athletic v Deer Orchard.
In the one Premier Division game that remained, champions Northside beat Dearham 5-2 with goals from Kurt Scott (2), Darren Little (2) and Jaden Scott.
The Dearham replies came from Steven Stoddart and James Langstaff.
Three games went ahead in Division One when there were three convincing winners.
The most emphatic success came at Flimby where the Social Club beat The Junction 10-3.
Kyle Davis (3), Max Litt (2), Lee Birks, Michael Carruthers, Thomas Husband, Lazo Rayner and Daniel Littler were on the mark for Flimby.
Goals from Guy Richardson (2) and Charlie Swain meant the Junction went home with some positives.
JJ’s travelled to Cockermouth and recorded a good 6-0 win at Highfield with goals from Callum Killick (2), Nathan Dryden (2), Keenan Musgrave and Gary Hunter.
In the final game, Maryport Athletic won 4-1 at Senhouse with goals from Macauley Sharp (2), Adam Ogni and Joe Hetherington. Terry Wharrier netted the Senhouse response.
The Sunday County Cup has reached the third round stage, with 16 clubs left in across the county – eight from Carlisle and eight from the Workington and Egremont leagues.
The ties in both areas have been set for February 13.
The draw is Unisun Athletic v Brampton; Jovial Sailor v Inter Pirelli; Lloyds No 1 Reunited v Crusaders; Scotby v Northbank; Salterbeck v The Royal Oak; Mirehouse v Maryport Athletic; Lowca Pirates v Northside; JJ’s v Thornhill.
