Council Christmas opening hours and waste collections

Copeland Borough Council offices will be closed from 5pm on Thursday, December 23.

Council officers will be available again from 9am on Tuesday, January 4.

Distington Hall Crematorium office will close at 4.30pm on December 23 and will reopen on December 29, and will close again at 4.30pm on December 31 and will reopen on January 4. The Chapel of Remembrance is open from 9am until 4.15pm every day throughout the Christmas period.

The Beacon Museum will close at 4.30pm on December 23 and will reopen on December 27 and will close again on December 31 and will reopen on January 2.

Household recycling and waste collections scheduled between December 27 and 31 will be collected as normal. All collections scheduled between January 3 and 7 will be one day later than normal. This includes a collection on Saturday, January 8, for those usually collected on January 7.

The out-of-hours emergency number for issues relating to serious food safety complaints, reporting for food poisoning, homelessness, flooding response, and sandbag requests for residential properties is 01946 598300.

Alternatively, to request sandbags for residential properties, email sandbags@copeland.gov.uk. For dangerous structures call 01946 427121.
