Barrow’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Northampton Town at Sixfields Stadium on Saturday has been postponed.
Northampton informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the home fixture due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases in their squad.
In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL will now review the circumstances surrounding the postponement.
In addition, it will assist affected clubs throughout this challenging period to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff while ensuring their obligations to the EFL regulations are maintained.
A rearranged date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course, with all tickets purchased for the original game remaining valid for the new date.
Meanwhile, Barrow’s Sky Bet League Two game against Bristol Rovers due to be played on Saturday, January 8 has now been rearranged for March 1 (7.45pm kick-off).
The two sides were scheduled to meet early in the new year, but both have now made it through to the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup which is set to be played that weekend.
The Bluebirds will be travelling to face Barnsley at Oakwell, while Rovers will make the trip to play Peterborough United at London Road in Round Three.
As a result, the two clubs have been in discussions, and it’s now been confirmed with the EFL that Mark Cooper’s men will travel to The Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, March 1.
