Carlisle United’s home game with Bradford City tomorrow has been postponed due to a number of COVID-19 cases in the visitors’ camp.
It has left manager Derek Adams unable to field a team to fulfil the fixture.
Following the commencement of the EFL’s re-introduced red protocols, and daily testing, a number of the Bantams’ players are unavailable through either positive tests, self-isolation or awaiting PCR test results.
This follows a continued rise in national infection figures, which are increasing on a regular basis.
City had earlier hit the headlines in a different way as they have been hit by a takeover storm in the last 24 hours.
The American cryptocurrency firm WAGMI United are said to be planning to use non-fungible tokens to create a new model of sports club ownership and have made a bid for City.
WAGMI held a Twitter space announcement yesterday to declare their claims without naming a specific club.
They say the ultimate aim would be to reach the Premier League and it was later revealed that the club was Bradford City.
The initial report appeared in the Washington Post and claimed the bidders hope to complete their purchase next month.
But this morning City chairman Stefan Rupp issued a statement saying: “Despite various reports claiming a change of ownership is imminent, I can confirm it is not.
“Yesterday, I received an e-mail from a representative of the WAGMI United group with an offer to purchase Bradford City AFC.
“That is all I have received, nothing more, and no further action has taken place.”
