Cricket might be off the conversation list after events in Australia, but local clubs are already looking ahead to the 2022 season.
As far as the Cumbria League is concerned the race for the Premier Division title promises to be an intriguing contest.
Several clubs have appointed new, eye-catching professionals and some prominent League players have moved clubs.
Carlisle, one of the most forward thinking of our clubs, are keen to regain the title they won in 2019 and have just announced pre=season arrangements.
Indoor pre-season nets start on Sunday March 6 and runs to March 27.
Secretary Mark Davidson said: “The club is looking forward to the 2022 season at Edenside, with things getting underway on Sunday March 6 as we start both junior and senior training, indoors at Trinity School Sports Centre.
“Sessions will be available for Under-11s, Under-13s and Under-15s and seniors from 4pm through to 9pm over four Sundays before we commence outdoor sessions in April.
“Another exciting season is anticipated at Carlisle this coming summer and preparations are well underway for the April start.
“Sam Clarkson has taken up the post of Cricket Development Manager, with Nico Watt joining the Edenside backroom team as junior co-ordinator.”
Cumbria County player Watt is a new arrival on the playing side, too, having been a key member of the Wigton side for a number of years.
