Whitehaven head coach Jonty Gorley has named a squad of 21 players for tomorrow’s final pre-season warm-up game at Swinton Lions.

Gorley felt his decision to go with the basic 17 for last week’s Ike Southward Memorial Trophy game at Workington “came back to bite him on the bum.”

Only three players from Gorley’s complete squad for 2022 are not included with two of them – Chris Taylor (bicep) and Josh Martin (shoulder) recovering from injuries picked up in the game atn Derwent Park.

Connor Holliday is included after picking-up a one-match ban for an incident in the Town game, but which doesn’t come into effect until next week.

It will be the first chance for Gorley to look at two new overseas players, Will Evans and Geronimo Doyle who were not involved in the game with Town.

Australian prop Ryan King, who made a favourable impression last season when he made his British debut, is also in the squad after missing-out against Workington.

The Whitehaven squad is: Aiye, Bradley, Bishop, Bulman, , Dawson, Dixon, Doyle, Eccleston, Evans, Graham, Holliday, Hudson, King, McAvoy, Moore, Newton, Phillips, Walker, Wilkinson, Williams.
