Eve Halliday, of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce

To celebrate International Women’s Day next month, Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and partners will host an all-day event.

The event, on Tuesday, March 8, welcomes anyone from the county, from any professional background to network and hear each other’s stories and celebrate women in Cumbria.

The theme of the event is Trailblazers and will celebrate women who have been successful in rising to senior roles mainly in male dominated sectors, including those who run their own businesses.

In the morning, the Chamber will hold 4 workshops for attendees: Next Level Workshop – Are you ready to level up? With Laura Cadman Limited; The Contributions of Women to Innovation with University of Cumbria; How to Run and Manage a Business: The Legal Landscape with Baines Wilson; and Is it Time to Talk About the Menopause? with Baines Wilson.

After a two-course lunch and networking, attendees will hear from four panellists who have been successful in rising to senior roles: Johanne Miller, managing director of Twoey; Jenny Bergstrom, managing director of Holmen Iggesund; Dr Laura Duffy from Great North Air Ambulance Service; and Darina Ward, founder and managing director of Growthviser.

Eve Halliday, the chamber’s business growth manager, said: “We’re so pleased to host Cumbria’s International Women’s Day and provide a great range of workshops for our attendees.

“It’s incredibly important to amplify the importance of women in business and help inspire the next generation.

“There’s some incredible talent in Cumbria and in order to retain that we need to show that the opportunities are here, and anything really is possible, no matter your gender, background or aspirations. I hope that the sessions we run and the speakers we have will do just that. I can’t wait!”

Laura Cadman, who will run the Next Level workshop, said: “I am really excited to be involved in International Women’s Day and sharing lots of tips and tools to achieve a next level life- whatever that means for you!”

Johanne said: “I am very much looking forward to joining the celebration of International Women’s Day here in Cumbria with many inspirational ladies from the county and I am humbled to have been asked to join a panel at the event together with some of the county’s trailblazing ladies”

Darina added: “I’m pleased to have been asked to be involved with Cumbria’s International Women’s Day. Many exciting things have happened over the last two years in my business and I’m looking forward to sharing my story at the event”

Cumbria’s International Women’s Day is sponsored by Baines Wilson LLP, North Lakes Hotel & Spa, University of Cumbria’s CUSP II and Laura Cadman Limited.
