More than 200 people gathered in Carlisle city centre to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
The silent 15-minute candlelight vigil was held from 7pm last night, February 27, at the Market Cross.
People of all ages from across the city and beyond came together to show their support for Ukraine, which has been invaded by Russia.
Those attending the vigil wrapped themselves in the Ukrainian flag, painted the flag’s colours on their faces and stood in silent reflection.
The county has a sizeable Ukrainian population, many of whom have families in the country, which is under siege. Thousands of people are trying to flee the invasion while thousands more have taken up arms to repel the Russians.
