A man accused of murdering 24-year-old Ryan Kirkpatrick will be extradited to the UK after a hearing in Ireland.
The High Court in Dublin previously heard submissions from lawyers for Kane Hull, 29, of Bower Street in Carlisle, and his co-accused Liam Porter, 32, of Fulmer Place, also Carlisle, who are both accused of the murder or manslaughter of Mr Kirkpatrick in Carlisle in September.
Porter’s surrender was ordered by Ms Justice Caroline Biggs on February 18.
Today (Monday), Ms Justice Biggs ordered the extradition of Hull.
The fatal stabbing of Mr Kirkpatrick at Carlyle’s Court in Carlisle city centre happened on September 18 of last year.
Tom Horan BL, for Hull, had argued that the warrant seeking the extradition of his client lacked clarity on both the number and nature of the offences for which he is being sought.
Ms Justice Biggs said the UK had provided clarity on the accusations after the High Court’s request for more information.
Irish police arrested Hull and Porter in the Carracastle area of County Mayo on September 29 last year.
Ms Justice Biggs was told by Tony McGillicuddy BL, for the State, that there were no outstanding domestic matters impeding Hull’s extradition. Ms Justice Biggs remanded Hull in custody for a period of not less than 15 days with a further period not to exceed 10 days to allow time for the extradition to be arranged.
On February 18, Porter’s surrender was ordered by the High Court.
