Changes to Barrow Raiders squad

Barrow Raiders coach Paul Crarey has had to make changes to his squad for the Cumbrian derby in the fifth round of the Challenge Cup.

Ryan Shaw, the regular goal-kicker, was injured in Monday’s excellent win at Widnes and has to miss out.

Sam Brooks, however, has completed his suspension and is able to return while Scottish international Connor Terrill is also selected.

There’s plenty of incentive for four of the Barrow squad as they are all former Workington players – two of them in particular huge favourites with the Derwent Park faithful.

Half-back Jarrod Sammut and work-horse forward Jarrad Stack proved very popular in their time with Town while Dec Hulme and Tee Ritson also played for the Derwent Park club.

Although he only played 37 times for Town across the 2015/16 season Sammut, an Australian-born Maltese international, shone with 33 tries and 77 goals.

Fellow Australian Stack spent eight years with Town when he was the most consistent player on the books, earning him the captaincy.

The squad is: Brooks, J Carter, Cresswell, Emslie, Forster, Gillam, Hopkins, Hulme, Iaria, Johnston, Kelly, Miloudi, Morrow, Mossop, Ritson, Sammut, Stack, Terrill, D Toal, S Toal, Wood.

Only 19 men set to take to the pitch for Workington Town – read more here.
