
The weather put the brake on Aspatria’s Premier Division Championship challenge when their home clash against Wigton Harriers was postponed.
The Windscale v UniSun Divisional Cup fixture was also called-off early to prevent unnecessary travel by the Carlisle-based team.
Carlisle City Development completed their fixture programme in the Premier Division with a 5-3 defeat at home to Pirelli.
A hat trick from Jordan Atkinson along with goals from Henry Walker and Jordan Hodgson made-up the total for Pirelli. Liam Keyes (2) and Alex Cairns were responsible for City’s reply.
Whitehaven Miners completed their final Division One fixture on the artificial pitch at Lakes College against Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves.
Their 2-1 victory leaves them in top spot with a one-point margin over second-placed UniSun.
Regular scorer Lewis Park earned the points with a double strike, while Ellis Trotter’s goal for Celtic kept the result in doubt until the final whistle.
The Championship will be decided when Celtic entertain UniSun later in the month.
Cockermouth made the trip to Maryport to take on Athletic. Goals for Cockermouth by Luke Ivison and Brett Smith gave the visitors all the points in a close 2-0 win.
There were two ties completed in the Whitehaven Cup. Northbank entertained Workington Athletic at Sheepmount. The other tie had Workington Development against Mirehouse on the plastic at St Benedict’s School.
Workington Athletic went into the hat for the next round with a 4-1 victory. Greg Quayle, Gareth Brunton, Dan McDermott and Connor Hammel scored their goals, with a Bobby Dixon strike reducing the arears for Northbank.
Workington Development also progressed with a 7-3 victory over Mirehouse. A Matty Foster hat- trick was the highlight for the Development side with Tom Houghton, Thomas Downes, Dan Whitehead and player manager Brian Dawson also contributing.
Cyran Corlett (2) and Kyle Bailiff replied for Mirehouse.
Silloth will be glad to see the end of this season after another heavy defeat at Whitehaven Amateurs Reserves.
They went down 10-0 at the County Ground in the only Divisional Cup fixture scheduled for the day. Connor Edwards (4), Bobby Carter (3) Will Starkey (2) and Adam Johnston scored the Amateurs goals.
Silloth’s manager Liam Wilson must take great credit for his commitment to the team despite the set-backs they have experienced.
