Maryport Golf Club has introduced 13 women to the sport in new coaching sessions.
New club members visited Penrith Golf Hub to learn the basics of golf in a fun and relaxed atmosphere under the watchful eye of professional Johnathan Graham.
The coaching sessions are designed to help new golfers improve their technique, and to correct any bad habits the more established golfers might have picked up.
Providing basic knowledge and skills training needed to increase confidence on the course, Johnathan has created a six-week interactive and informative way to provide the perfect grounding to the game.
Lady Captain and organiser Lindsay Gray, hopes that the sessions will encourage more women to take up the game.
She said: “Encouraging more women and girls to play golf is high on the agenda for my captaincy. Not only is golf a great form of exercise it provides many mental health benefits too. I hope the relaxed atmosphere and the West Cumbrian welcome will grow the Ladies Section at Maryport Golf Club.”
