Just two games into the new season and only three teams are 100 per cent in the National Conference Premier Division.
Wath Brow Hornets are one of them, and in a tight split over points differential lead West Hull and Thatto Heath Crusaders.
It all points to a tasty clash on Saturday when the Hornets visit Thatto Heath.
Wath Brow, playing their second home game, beat Thornhill Trojans 26-0 and now have a differential of plus 42.
West Hull are on plus 38 and Thatto Heath are on plus 36.
Thornhill arrived with only 14 men and they were always up against it, but battled gamely to the end with full-back Joel Gibson outstanding.
It actually stayed 0-0 until the 20th minute before Nathan Lucock went in for the first try which was followed six minutes later by a touchdown from Sam Curwen.
The second was converted by Cole Walker-Taylor and on the half hour he also improved a try by Dan Burns.
Although Thornhill just had the one substitute they battled manfully in the second half to restrict the Hornets to two more tries from Joe Power (51) and Charlie Tomlinson (62), the second of which was converted by Walker-Taylor.
Egremont had been well beaten at home in their first game by Hunslet Club Parkside but they responded well to win 24-22 at Pilkington Recs.
They had to withstand a home fightback after establishing a 20-6 lead by half time.
But as the hosts got dangerously close it was a second-half try from Toby Corrie which proved to be the crucial score.
In that first half dominance the Cumbrians scored tries through Brad Long, Aaron Turnbull, Matt Hutchins and Sean Mumberson, two of which were converted by Matty Bewsher.
Those were all scored after the home side took the lead early on with a try by Terence Riley which Kyran Knapper had improved.
In League Two Kells opened their season with a good home win, 28-14 against West Bowling who were considered among the pre-season favourites for the title.
It was a promising display by Kells, especially as the visitors had fought back from a 16-0 half-time deficit to make it 16-14 with 11 minutes left.
But the home side finished really strongly to seal their victory with two converted tries in the last seven minutes.
Returning head coach Peter Smith said: “We played really well in the first-half to establish a good lead. One or two decisions went against us in the second half but we finished really well and were deserving winners.”
Jordan Burns (2) and William Ennis scored the first half tries to establish the lead with Ross Ainley and a fine effort from James Ennis securing the victory late on. Ross Gainford kicked four goals.
Barrow Island earned their first win of the season in Division Two when they beat Hunslet Warriors 30-22.
They had conceded the first try to Josh McClelland early on, but were nicely ahead 24-4 at half-time.
Nathan Sneesby, Dan Wright, Carl McBain and Alistair McEwan scored tries, all of which were converted by Adam Jackson.
In the second half Shane Sanderson scored a try, converted by Jackson and the Warriors late surge was all in vain.
