Injury-hit Workington Town have signed a promising Cumbrian youngster – with a familiar surname – on loan.
Luke Broadbent, 19, is with Warrington Wolves and is the son of former Barrow, Widnes, Salford and Whitehaven full-back Gary Broadbent.
He goes straight into the squad for Sunday’s home game against Bradford Bulls at Derwent Park.
Town coach Chris Thorman had to move to find himself a full-back following an injury to Oscar Thomas in Sunday’s Challenge Cup clash at Barrow.
In addition, likely replacement Lee Postlethwaite has been stood down for a mandatory head injury assessment which rules him out of at least the Bradford game.
Thorman said: “We are without a recognised full-back in the short term and Luke is a talented full-back.
“He is from the community club Walney Central and signed professional forms with Wolves at 16. He has also represented England.”
Town were only able to name 19 players in their squad for last week’s Cup clash at Barrow and injuries have continued to mount up.
