It’s the last lap of a difficult season for Carlisle, and they face a tough test at Manchester on Saturday in North One West.
Manchester are currently second in the table, but are unlikely to feel much sympathy for bottom side Carlisle.
They need all the points they can muster to hold-off Kendal and claim second spot behind runaway leaders and champions elect Stockport.
Carlisle, still on minus one at the foot of the table, were well beaten at home by third-bottom Bowdon last Saturday, going down 50-12.
Penrith did much better than the 40-17 loss sounds at Firwood Waterloo and the management team had plenty of positives to reflect on.
They would be delighted by the performances of the youngsters in their side, Josh Winder and Archie Rattray in the back row and Tom Kirk at scrum half.
The calming influence of Aaron Pamphilon returning after breaking his nose and firming up the midfield would also please them. They will now hope to return to winning ways against Wilmslow at Winters Park.
Kendal, who lost to Stockport on Saturday (no disgrace there) travel to Glossop intent on staying at least third in the bid to ensure progress in the RFU reorganisation.
Aspatria are also hoping for progress, too, from Durham Northumberland One and are in a battle for fourth place. They will be looking for maximum points as they visit bottom of the table Horden and Peterlee.
In North Two West Keswick are due to host Bolton and St Benedict’s visit Southport with Cockermouth having a spare weekend.
