Barrow AFC

In a remarkable coupon buster Barrow produced a splendid performance to thump League leaders Forest Green 4-0.

It was a very special way to get new manager Phil Brown off the mark with his first win after two defeats.

It proved to be a resounding victory for the Bluebirds from easily their best performance of the season.

Goals from Joe Grayson, John Rooney, Matt Platt and Aaron Amadi-Holloway gave Barrow a huge boost as they moved three points clear of Oldham who are back in the second relegation position.

Scunthorpe’s 4-0 defeat against Leyton Orient condemned them to relegation to the National League after 72 years in the Football League.

It took the Bluebirds five minutes to go ahead on the clock when a corner from Rooney was met by Tom Beadling and dropped kindly for Grayson to steer home at the far post.

The second goal came on 38 minutes when Rooney was left with a close range finish after great line-up play between Josh Kay and Aaron Amadi-Holloway.

Eight minutes into the second half Rooney was involved again, this time with another corner which saw Platt rise best before steering a header past defenders on the line.

Time was almost up when yet another Rooney corner was met by Amadi-Holloway who planted a powerful header beyond keeper Luke McGee.
