A free event for people with sight loss across north Cumbria will be held next month.
Charity Carlisle Sight Support will hold the information day on May 12, including exhibitions of everyday living solutions and technical equipment designed for people with sight loss.
There will also be local and national organisations displaying and demonstrating items and opportunities to speak with sight loss specific organisations as well as others who offer general social and welfare advice.
Chairman of Carlisle Sight Support, Barry Carter, said: “We haven’t been able to hold a day like this over the past couple of years, so this is a great opportunity for blind or visually impaired people, their family and friends to meet with us and a host of organisations that can provide practical help and support.”
The event takes place at Botcherby Community Centre on Victoria Road in Carlisle and will run from 10am to 3.30pm.
Manager of Carlisle Sight Support, Mark Costello, added: “We are delighted with the number of organisations who will be attending, which includes Carlisle Talking Newspapers, Blind Veterans, the Macular Society and tech specialists Vision Aid, Optelec and Lakes Vision.
“As well as that we also have local providers, ourselves included along with Age UK, AbilityNet, Citizens Advice, Home Life Carlisle, the Torch Trust, Wiltshire Farm Foods and more.”
