Celebrations are still on hold for Wetheriggs United in their bid to win the Westmorland League title.
A win over Appleby last night would have sealed it but they lost a very tight game by a single goal scored by Craig Parkin.
But just how important a brilliant save from Tom Birkett was at 0-0 is reflected in the fact that he won the Appleby man of the match award.
However, despite the set-back Wetheriggs are still strong favourites to wrap-up their first League title for nine years.
They are at home to Keswick on Saturday and will face opposition who are fighting desperately to avoid relegation, currently third bottom.
As it stands although Appleby can still profit from a Wetheriggs collapse, United just need three points from four games to seal the Championship.
