Cumbria women intent on following up fine win

Cumbria Women travel to Long Eaton on Sunday intent on following up their fine win last week in the County Championship.

The Cumbrians were far too good for Staffordshire as they completed a 74-12 rout of the visitors at Penrith.

The week-end game will be tougher against the combined talents of Notts, Lincs and Derby but the Cumbrians will travel in confident mood.

Star of the show was Upper Eden centre Lucy Branthwaite who was Player of the Match after contributing 29 of the Cumbrian points with three tries and seven conversions.

For the game against the Three Counties, Cumbria have named 24 players including two travelling reserves – Jo Wiseman and Ashleigh Hendrie, both from Carlisle..

The starting 15 have been named as: Sarah Pratt (Carlisle), Hayley Hodgson (Kendal), Lucy Branthwaite (Upper Eden), Bethan Lloyd (Carlisle), Josie Scrimgour (Penrith), Julia Addison (Penrith), Phil Chadwick (Carlisle), Caroline Abbot (Carlisle), Hayley Thompson (Carlisle), Hannah Thornbery (Workington), Jess Hetherington (Carlisle), Kim Fitzmaurice (Carlisle), Polly Bowman (Penrith), Fiona Cowperthwaite (Sefton), Steph Musgrave (Carlisle).

Replacements: Sophie Bowness (Workington), Rose Cleeton (Workington), Chrissie Hadfield (Carlisle), Caron Davidson (Penrith), Cath Sewell (Kendal), Helena Scullion (Penrith), Lauren Coulson (Workington).
