Barrow have arranged a pre-season friendly with South Shields for Saturday, July 16.
The Mariners missed out on promotion from NPL Premier Division because of two devastating results to end the season.
They lost 1-0 at bottom side Grantham Town in the final game of the season when the win would have put them level with champions Buxton.
In the play-off semi-final against Warrington Town they were beaten on penalties and missed out on the opportunity to move up to National North.
South Shields are managed by former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips, who took the helm in January of this year, and who will be hoping to make amends this next season for the near miss.
Barrow say they will have more information on the club’s pre-season schedule which will be announced in due course.
There is still no official news on Barrow’s hunt to replace departed manager Phil Brown although they have been linked, along with Hartlepool, to the Halifax Town boss Pete Wild.
