More than £10,000 has been raised to help support the family of a man and his 14-year-old daughter killed in a West Cumbrian house fire.
Fifty-eight-year-old Paul Scott, known as Archie, and his daughter Mia, died following the blaze at Toll Bar Cottages, Distington, in the early hours of Sunday, May 22. Their black Labrador Ged also died.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing on behalf of the coroner.
Villagers wanted to do something to help the family and their neighbours, whose homes had been damaged, so launched an appeal.
The set up a Justgiving page online in the days following the tragedy and set a £5,000 target. It raised more than £7,500 in four days, allowing the organisers to raise the target to £10,000.
It has now surpassed the £10,000 target as 341 people have donated £10,120.
Distington ARL has been part of the appeal’s organisation.

The side tweeted: “To the people of West Cumbria and further afield, so far your support has been amazing. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and for supporting the families affected at this time of great loss and sadness.
“We hope comfort can be taken from the heartfelt messages of support and donations received. If we can keep the memories of Archie, Mia and Ged alive now and forever, then that we shall do.”
