Wigton won a dramatic opening T20 contest at Cockermouth off the last ball of the game.
Professional Chris Hodgson took a single off the final delivery to bring up his own unbeaten half century and win the game.
It was a thrilling end to a good battle and a personal triumph for Hodgson, a former Cockermouth player.
Cockermouth had been put in to bat and overseas amateur Mikyle Louis opened, top-scoring with 22 off 19 deliveries which included the home side’s only two sixes.
The hosts didn’t have another batsman in double figures until Ewan Styles (14) at nine and Matthew Siddall (17no) at ten as they finished on 104-9.
Lewis Little (4-21) from four and Glen Liddle (2-12) from his four were the pick of the Wigton bowlers.
Although Wigton started badly at 2-2 Hodgson made an innings-shaping 50no off 51 deliveries, which included three fours and four sixes.
There was great support from Little (40) and although others went cheaply in the cause Hodgson saw his side through to a famous victory.
Louis took 2-23 for Cockermouth from three overs.
In the West Group Sri Lankan professional Lahiru Dilshan was Workington’s match-winner in a six-wicket victory at Egremont.
Put in to bat Workington reached 150-4 with Dilshan top-scoring on 60 off 48 deliveries, and which included five fours and two sixes.
Skipper Matthew Lowden (32no) and opener Callum Moffat (26) gave valuable support.
Jack Thompson was the most successful Egremont bowler taking 2-16.
When Egremont batted they lost half the side for 47 and fell too far behind the clock as no batsman got established.
In fact no-one reached double figures until last man Sam Cruden hit 15 off 16 balls including three fours.
The home side were bowled-out for 84 from 18 overs with Dilshan taking 4-6 from his four overs. Lewis Hull weighed in with 2-13 and Ben Scott had 2-15.
The third game was in the South group and provided Haverigg with a comfortable nine wicket win against Lindal Moor.
The First Division leaders elected to bat first and were bowled out for 95 in exactly 20 overs.
Bradley Stephens (22) and Edward Waind (21) were the leading scorers. Sachin Jayawardina (3-13) and Thomas Crowther (3-32) were the main Haverigg bowlers.
Although they lost opener Lee Postlethwaite for two an unbroken second wicket stand of 94 between Jayawardina (48no) and Jordan Postlethwaite (45) carried the home side to victory in 16.5 overs.
