A project management and controls specialist has secured a five-year commercial and project controls framework at the UK’s Atomic Weapons Establishment.

AWE – which operates from four sites across the UK – plays a crucial role in nuclear defence, providing warheads for the UK’s nuclear deterrent. For more than 70 years, AWE has supported the UK Government’s nuclear defence strategy and the Continuous At Sea Deterrent provided by the Trident submarine programme.

Prima Uno, based in Cleator Moor, will be providing commercial, estimating, cost engineering, planning, risk management and project controls professionals to assist AWE on their projects. Its personnel and the AWE project team will work as a fully integrated team.

Managing director Sarah Purdham said: “To secure this contract is exciting for Prima Uno, we want to add value but also to make a difference.

“This framework is another new growth area for Prima Uno, and we aim to provide an exceptional service as we do to all clients.

“We will bring valuable learning from experience from our other major projects. Securing work will assist Prima Uno with employing new people, graduates and apprentices. I am looking forward to working with the team at AWE.

“Our staff share my vision and enthusiasm and are excited about starting on the projects.”
