Village halls and community centres near the Haverigg II wind farm can apply for up to £4,000 funding for new energy efficient measures.
Thrive Renewables, which runs the four-turbine site, is offering the grants to eligible buildings within 20 miles of the wind farm as part of a nationwide scheme.
If successful, the funding can be used to cover energy saving measures including insulation, draught proofing, improved heating or lighting controls and LED lighting, while communities will also be able to access free expert advice from the Centre for Sustainable Energy on zero-cost solutions as part of the scheme.
The application process will be administered by the Centre for Sustainable Energy and applicants will be asked to complete a full energy survey of the shared building using guidance supplied by the charity.
Applications will remain open until September 11. More information can be found at: https://www.thriverenewables.co.uk/our-mission/community-benefit/
