Mission Impossible film crews in Lake District for a month

Film set in Buttermere?

Eagle-eyed readers of Cumbria Crack have spotted activity around Buttermere – believed to be connected to filming of Mission Impossible.

While anyone has yet to spot the movie franchise’s star Tom Cruise, there are helicopters, a marquee and vehicles at a site in the area.

One of readers said: “We sure saw some security and crew as we entered via Gatesgarth car park to climb up High Stile.”

And another said they had been chatting to a security guard who said they would be there for a month.

Earlier this week, it was believed crews moved to Kirkbride Airfield, near Carlisle.

They arrived on Wednesday to start building work connected to the film. And in a Mission Impossible-style task, a large building has appeared overnight on land there.

A spokesman for the airfield declined to comment.

Megastar Tom Cruise was in Cumbria in September to film parts of Mission Impossible. He met fans, posed for photos and told them he loved the Lake District.

Have you spotted Tom Cruise yet? We’d love to see your photos if you have! Email admin@cumbriacrack.com
