A total of £2,600 has been raised for a charity that supports survivors of sexual abuse thanks to a Rotary Golf Day.
After a two-year absence, the annual Brampton and Longtown Rotary Club golf fundraising day returned and was played at Brampton Golf Club.
This year, 36 teams competed in the fundraiser and the day supported Carlisle based charity Safety Net UK.
Safety Net is a charity that supports the recovery of those affected by rape, exploitation, and sexual and domestic abuse across Cumbria.
Amidst mixed weather conditions, scoring was good and competitors had a good day.
The winning team entered by Cumbria Windoworks, one of the day’s sponsors, scored 126 points.
Organiser Simon Whitwham said: “It was great to get the charity golf day back on after missing 2020 and 2021 and Brampton & Longtown Rotary Club would sincerely like to thank all of the sponsors of the day and those that donated prizes to a very good raffle.
“This event is one of our key fund raising days and we are pleased to have raised £2,600 for Safety Net. All players enjoyed their day and were very generous in purchasing raffle tickets and team mulligans, which gave a boost to the final total.
“Thanks to all involved in the day and to Brampton members for allowing us to have their course for most of the day. We hope to see everyone back next year.”
The sponsors were Lloyds Rosehill, Cartmells, Dodd & Co, The Cumberland, Warwick Mill Business Village, RAW Insurance, P & HM Ferguson, Blacksmiths Arms, West Cumberland Farmers, Eric Hagan Opticians, Genesis Homes, PFK and Cumbria Windoworks
