
The Workington and District Sunday will have 13 competing clubs in the 2022/23 season.
Once again they will be split into two Leagues – the Premier Division and Division One.
But whereas last season there was a 7-6 split in favour of Division One, this time it will be the Premier Division with seven.
There was the prospect of just one Division, giving 24 League games but it was decided to stick with the two Divisions.
The one new team is Rangers FC who will be based at Seaton Rangers Rugby League club.
In fact there will be two teams operating from the National Conference Lerague’s headquarters as The Juntion have moved and changed their name.
The one club that has not re-entered are JJ’s who, ironically, had their best season last time finishing fourth of seven in Division One.
All the League’s clubs have been affiliated by the Cumberland FA and can now play friendly matches.
As well as the League programme there will be the same four Cup competitions – Sunday League Cup, President’s Cup and two Divisional Cups.
Contesting the Premier Division will be: Blue Bell, Dearham, Deer Orchard, Northside, Salterbeck, Sun Inn and Sun Inn Athletic.
In the First Division are: Flimby Social, Highfield, Seaton Rangers, Maryport Athletic, Rangers and Senhouse.
The first rounds of the two main Cup competitions have been drawn and are as follows –
Sunday League Cup: Senhouse v Dearham; Sun Inn v Seaton Rangers; Sun Athletic v Blue Bell; Highfield v Salterbeck; Deer Orchard v Rangers,
There are byes for Dearham, Flimby Social and Maryport Athletic.
President Cup: Salterbeck v Blue Bell; Sun Athletic v Northside; Deer Orchard v Sun Inn; Highfield v Maryport Athletic; Dearham v Senhouse.
Byes: Flimby Social, Rangers and Seaton Rangers.
Referee’s fees this coming season will be £35 and the season will start on Sunday, September 4.
